The Browning Agency

The Browning Agency has been advising Florida businesses and families on risk since 1989, when Jim Browning opened the doors in Ponte Vedra. A St. Augustine native and University of Florida graduate, Jim built the agency around a habit he still keeps: sit down with the client, find out what they actually do all day, and only then talk about coverage.

That approach grew into two distinct books. The Ponte Vedra office handles commercial accounts and high net worth personal lines across Northeast Florida. The Hastings office, out in St. Johns County farm country, writes primarily agricultural risks. Since 1994 the agency has also served the equipment and party rental industry through an exclusive program with the American Rental Association, where it is ARA’s preferred Florida writer.

Jim is an Accredited Advisor in Insurance who has sat on the American Rental Association’s National Risk Management Committee, chaired the St. Johns County Economic Development Council, and been called as an expert witness by the US Department of Justice on flood insurance matters. Senior staff hold or are working toward AAI and CIC accreditation, and the agency keeps its client-to-employee ratio well below the industry average so accounts get read by a person rather than sat in a queue.
