L.A. Care Health Plan is the largest publicly operated health plan in the United States and covers more than two million residents of Los Angeles County. It was created in 1997 as an independent local public agency and offers Medi-Cal, the L.A. Care Covered marketplace plan for individuals and families, a Medicare dual-eligible special needs plan, and the PASC-SEIU Homecare Workers Health Care Plan. Because it is a public agency rather than a commercial carrier, it does not carry an AM Best rating. You can pay your L.A. Care Covered premium by e-check or Visa, Mastercard, or Discover through the L.A. Care Connect member portal, or by phone with Member Services.
